Series; Modern Parodies of Genji, 1863 - 1864
Yadorigi: Satsuma no Kami Tadanori, 1864 - Terrific portrait of Satsuma no kami Tadanori, the governor of Satsuma Province, composing a poem. He sits cross-legged on a fur rug, a roll of paper in hand and a portable writing set on the ground nearby. A shower of delicate petals falls down over him from the blossoming cherry tree above. Beautiful color and fine detail in the elegant clothing and armor. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection. A very handsome design.
