MSekiya, Chapter 16 Hangan Yoshitsune and Musashibo Benkei, 1854 - Great scene from the kabuki play "The Subscription List" (Kanjincho). Attempting to sneak across the border disguised as monks, Yoshitsune and his retainers are stopped by the aristocrat Togashi, who questions them. Thinking quickly, the warrior monk Benkei unrolls a blank scroll, pretending to read a list of subscribers to their temple restoration fund. Yoshitsune stands behind him, dresses as a porter, carrying a walking staff. A handsome design from this famous play.
