Sato Masakiyo and Troops on the Way to Battle

Comments - Terrific scene of the great daimyo Sato Masakiyo (the real-life Kato Kiyomasa) and his troops on their way to battle. The general rides a black horse at right, scowling angrily. Rows of samurai in full armor carrying clubs march before him, with one man carrying a fluttering red banner and another, the symbol of their leader atop pole with red fringe. The procession winds around a body of water in the background, with warriors pushing and pulling two cannons. A fantastic design with wonderful detail. A great choice for a samurai enthusiast.

Artist - Yoshitora (active circa 1840 - 1880)

Image Size - 14" x 28 1/2" + margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with paper. A few small wormholes, thinning spot at edge, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
