Adachi was one of the most respected publishers of the 20th century. Their woodblocks were printed to the highest standards with excellent color and fine detail. Founded in 1925, Adachi also chose interesting and varied subjects for their prints and was the only publisher of many famous old ukiyo-e images.

Monkey: Dressing the Hair - Lovely design of a young beauty arranging her hair, bending forward as she twists it into a bun, a comb caught between her teeth. She wears an informal cotton kimono with a lightly embossed pattern, her red under robe visible at the edges. The inset above shows a monkey dressed as a shirabyoshi dancer. An attractive beauty subject with fine line work.
