Series; Dashing Roles in New Plays

Nakamura Shikan IV as Dote no Oroku, 1860 - Nice kabuki portrait of Nakamura Shikan IV as the snake charmer Dote no Oroku. She looks up with a rather evil grin, her open lips showing her blackened teeth. She wears a rust-colored coat over a violet and blue and gray print kimono, a dotted towel over her shoulder. A handsome design with fine line work in the hair and soft bokashi shading in the background. A rarely seen series.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 3/8" x 10"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse from previous backing. Slight soiling. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
