Bando Hikosaburo V as Kanki, 1863

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of the Chinese general Kanki. The bearded warrior looks to the side with a wary expression, frowning slightly with his brows furrowed. He wears an interesting button-front shirt patterned with peonies and trimmed with a ruffled collar, and his hair is pulled back into a knot held in place with a coral hairpin. An interesting design with the bold figure set off by a deep blue background.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 9 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Backed with paper. Slight toning and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
