Comments - Terrific large head kabuki portrait of the actor Nakayama Tomisaburo in a female role. She stares ahead with an unhappy pout, fingering the edge of her tie-dyed, seashell patterned collar. Her hair is pulled back into a smooth bun adorned with a decorative comb and hairpins, a white ribbon tying it away from her face. A great expressive figure with a shimmering gray mica background. Rarely seen in reprint.
