Cherry Blossoms at Night, 1889 - Lovely triptych of beauties viewing the cherry blossoms on a spring evening. A mother carries her child on her back as she walks along the stepping stones leading across a garden pond, the child accidentally dropping her toy hobbyhorse into the water. At right, a companion leans over to retrieve the toy, her flowing sleeve caught between her teeth to keep it from getting wet. Two beauties stand on a verandah built over the water at left, while two more women stroll hand in hand through the grounds. A beautiful view of this traditional spring activity. Wonderful detail in the sumptuous kimono fabrics, with delicate embossing in the white trim.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 14" x 27 3/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with paper. Slight toning, a few small spots, very slight ink offsetting. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
