Mitsuito of the Hyogoya

Series; Beauties Parodying the Seven Sages - A Selection of Younger Courtesans

Mitsuito of the Hyogoya - Lovely image of the beauty Mitsuito of the Hyogoya playing a shamisen as a young attendant carrying a kettle pauses beside her to listen. She wears an olive green kimono bordered with birds in flight and an embossed pattern, tied with a red tie-dyed obi. Behind her, an elegant folding screen features an ink painting of bamboo in bold calligraphic strokes. An attractive design, rarely seen in reprint, with a dusting of mica on the white kimono collar and hairpins.

Artist - Eishi (1756 - 1829)

Image Size - 15" x 9 5/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse at right corners from previous mounting. Slight toning, a couple creases at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
