Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of the courtesan Miura no Takao leaning over the shoulder of an unhappy man, smiling cheerfully as she tries to console him. She holds a comb wrapped in tissues, and wears an outer kimono patterned with irises. Her companion frowns dejectedly as he sits at an elegant black lacquer makeup stand with a mirror atop it. At left, a yakko or low-ranking servant holds his sword upright, grinning happily. A beautiful robe with a design of maple leaves and flowing water hangs over a stand behind him. From left, the actors are Nakamura Fukusuke I, Kataoka Gado II, and Iwai Kumesaburo III as the beauty. A handsome design with wonderful detail.
