Angry Samurai, 1857

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of a crouching samurai, looking over his shoulder with an angry frown. He wears court dress, with a voluminous light blue outer robe with an enormous crest over a kimono with a delicate scroll pattern, and a tall black court cap. A circular inset at upper right shows a scowling commoner, his thinning hair pulled back into a low knot at the back of his head. A handsome design.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 9 1/2" + margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
