Yamashiro, Moon over Saga, Minister Nakakuni and Lady Kogo, No. 10 - The beautiful Lady Kogo was known for her koto playing, which attracted the attention of the Emperor. Prime Minister Taira no Kiyomori became jealous, so Kogo ran away to the hills of Saga. The Emperor sent his aid to find her. Riding past a cottage on horseback one night, he heard the beautiful music of a koto being played inside. He began to play his flute, and Lady Kogo's maid rushed to the gate to see who it was. Kogo returned with him to the Emperor's palace. The inset at top right shows Lady Kogo playing the koto by lantern light. A lovely scene with a pale golden moon just peeking from behind a mountain in the background.
