Original Kiyochika (1847 - 1915) Japanese Woodblock Print
Cherry Blossom Viewing, 1878

Comments - Handsome triptych depicting a nobleman and upper-class beauties enjoying an outing to view the blossoming cherry trees alongside a river. At right, a group has gathered on a carpet overlooking the garden, with unusual panels featuring swimming fish framing the scene at either side. The nobleman holds a fan in his hand, smiling as he looks over his shoulder. He wears a black coat with a beautiful burnished pattern over a purple kimono with a subtle burnished design. The woman kneeling next to him cradles a small child next to her chest. At left, a beauty and young girls cross over an arched bridge, with a waterfall rushing over the cliff behind them. A charming spring design, attractively colored.

Artist - Kiyochika (1847 - 1915)

Image Size - 14" x 28 3/8" + margin as shown
