From peasants and princesses to courtesans and women warriors, these lovely portraits are beautifully detailed and colored. A terrific Kuniyoshi series that is not often seen.

Tomoe Gozen Supervising Her Son Fencing - Charming scene of the Lady Tomoe, the famous woman warrior, supervising her son, Asahina Saburo, as he practices fencing. The beauty sits on a cushion with one hand resting atop a brazier, gesturing with her hand as she watches the child closely. The young boy extends his wooden practice sword with both hands, wearing a blue kimono patterned with a mask and toys tucked into striped pants. An attractive image, nicely detailed.
