Nakamura Shikan IV as Oboshi Yuranosuke

Comments - Great kabuki portrait of Nakamura Shikan IV as Oboshi Yuranosuke, the leader of the famous 47 ronin. Here, he grips the dirk in his hand with which his master, Lord Hangan, has just committed suicide, vowing to avenge his death. A circular inset at upper right features Sawamura Tossho II as a judge or inspector. A bold design, beautifully detailed with extensive burnishing in Yuranosuke's black kimono.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Small tear at edge, small hole, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
