Original Sadanobu (1809 - 1879) Japanese Woodblock Print
Looking toward the Lake from the Top of Mount Hiei

Series; Famous Places in the Capital, circa 1870 - 1871

Famous Places in the Capital - Handsome design from Osaka artist Sadanobu's series "Famous Places in the Capital," published circa 1870 - 1871. Subjects include panoramic landscapes and noted shrines and landmarks in and around Tokyo. It's rare to find landscape series by an Osaka artist, so these prints are a nice complement to Sadanobu's more well known kabuki portraits. Nicely detailed. The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston has several prints from this series in its collection.

Artist - Sadanobu (1809 - 1879)

Image Size - 5 7/8" x 8 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Paper remnants on reverse at edges from previous mounting. Slight toning and soiling, stain, a few small spots and creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
