Original Chikayoshi (active circa 1867 - 1890) Japanese Woodblock Print
Beauty on a Pleasure Boat Kakemono

Comments - Terrific kakemono or vertical diptych of a beauty standing on a pleasure boat under a full moon. She rests one hand on the roof of the cabin as she pauses to look up at the night sky, a roll of tissues caught between her teeth. Her dark blue kimono is shaded from blue green to pale rose at the hem with a border of leaves and Genji symbols, tied with a green obi patterned with gray blossoms. The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, has this image in its collection. A classic Edo era beauty subject that would make an attractive framed display.

Artist - Chikayoshi (active circa 1867 - 1890)

Image Size - 27 1/4" x 9 1/8"

Condition - This print with good color and detail as shown. Two attached panels. Loss at corner, a couple thinning spots, repaired. Slight toning, soiling, and rubbing, a few creases and spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
