View of the Cave of Takinogawa

Comments - Intriguing scene of travelers crossing a narrow plank bridge across the river at Takinogawa. A man carrying two baskets suspended from a yoke across his shoulders balances carefully as he makes his way across the narrow support. Other figures climb steep steps set into the path at left, past a cave entrance covered with a grill. A fascinating early Hokusai landscape imitating Western landscape conventions, with a narrow decorative border. Published by Takamizawa, circa 1950s.
