Courtesan Somenosuke of the Matsuba-ya

Comments - Lovely portrait of the courtesan Somenosuke of the Matsuba-ya holding a crumpled love letter in her hands as she looks shyly down. She smiles sweetly, her hair elegantly arranged in a large bun with a single lock hanging down next to her face, adorned with many hairpins and a few ribbons. Beautiful fine detail in the hairline, and a lovely soft palette. A charming image.

Artist - Eisui (active circa 1790 - 1823)

Image Size - 15" x 10 1/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight wrinkling at right edge. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
