Rogue Threatening Noblemen, 1891

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a wild-haired rogue threatening two noblemen. He leans forward aggressively with an angry grimace, gripping a short sword in one hand and a cloth-wrapped parcel in the other. The two noblemen frown back at him, while at left, a young beauty throws her hand out in alarm, an anxious expression on her face. The samurai behind her watches the man warily. Purple draperies featuring the paulownia crest of the Minamoto clan frame the room overhead. Nice expressive figures, vibrantly colored and detailed with fine line work in the hair.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 27 5/8" + top margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with paper. Slight offsetting, a couple marks, faint stain. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
