The Wisdom of Gasenji Proving That Clouds Move, Not the Moon, 1883 - Terrific image of the young boy Gasenji proving to his friends that clouds move, rather than the moon. He stands in a clearing at the edge of the forest with his companions gathered around, gesturing at the full moon glowing high in the evening sky. The boys chatter and point as they discuss the matter, their shadows falling across the ground below. Gasenji wears a Western style outfit with gray knickers, a plaid vest, and a purple shirt. A handsome composition with fine bokashi shading.
