Takeda Daizendayu Harunobu (Nyudo Shingen), 1876 - Interesting scene of Takeda Daizendayu Harunobu in a field with a retainer. Known as a brilliant military strategist, Takeda was a powerful daimyo in Kai Province and became legendary for his battles against Uesugi Kenshin of Echigo Province. When he became a Buddhist monk, he took the name of Shingen. He is shown here leaning thoughtfully against a fan, his sword bearer beside him, partially hidden by the tall grass. An extensive palace complex is visible in the distance. An intriguing portrait of this well-known general, with fine shading in the grass and dark night sky.
