Seated Courtier by Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Seated Courtier

Comments - Handsome portrait of a seated courtier wearing formal court robes. His brown tunic features circular motifs with blossoms and flowing scrolls, the sleeves trimmed with ribbon laced through the fabric. His hands are folded across the top of his knee, and he wears a tall black cap. A border of clouds runs across the top of the image, with a scattering of confetti-like shapes across the background. An interesting subject.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 3/8" x 9 5/8"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Very slight paper remnants on reverse at edges from previous mounting. Wormholes, repaired. Slight toning, soiling, and creasing, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
