Izumi Province, Flowers of Nambu, Botange Shohaku, No. 24 - Lovely spring image of the 15th century poet Botange Shohaku riding on the back of an ox while reading a book. He rides through the beautiful countryside around Osaka past cherry trees covered in delicate pink and white blossoms. At right, a woman holds her crying young son by the hand as she carries a basket of greenery under her arm. The inset above shows a poem slip, ink stone, and brushes next to a large peony. A charming scene with fine bokashi shading in the sky.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 12 3/4" x 8 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse from previous backing. Slight toning and ink bleeding, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
