Original Kunichika (1835 - 1900) Japanese Woodblock Print
Nakamura Shikan IV as Kisen Hoshi and Onoe Kikugoro V as Okiku, 1872

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene showing Kisen Hoshi, one of Japan's Six Immortal Poets, grinning and dancing about, holding his sleeve high. He wears a white kimono shaded in yellow, and has a red cloth wrapped around his head. The beauty Okiku smiles up at him, her own sleeve extended at her side. From left, the actors are Nakamura Shikan IV and Onoe Kikugoro V. Nicely detailed with an embossed geometric pattern in the white kimono. An intriguing subject.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 1/2" x 9 1/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight toning and soiling, a few stains and creases, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
