Welcoming an Officer, 1883 - Interesting scene of a humble man welcoming an officer to his rather shabby home. The man bows before his guest, holding out a small bag in his hands as the solider waves his plumed hat. The officer wears a red jacket and white pants tucked into tall black leather boots, while the man's striped pants are ragged at the edges. A small dog sits quietly at right, and cracks are visible in the walls beyond. A nicely detailed setting. A rarely seen Yoshitoshi design.

Artist - Yoshitoshi (1839-92)

Image Size - 8" x 10" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Backed with paper. Slight separation at ends of vertical centerfold, three tears, small loss at edge, a few pinholes, repaired. Toning, slight soiling, a few creases. Small paper remnant at top edge. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
