Kuniyoshi's Sixty-nine Post Stations of the
Omiya: Abe no Muneto, 1852 - Handsome illustration of the rebel Abe no Muneto kneeling before Minister Fujiwara no Mitsuyori. The minister waves a blossoming branch over his captive as he looks down soberly, dressed in a beautiful black robe with a burnished leaf design and a tall court cap. Muneto looks up with a determined expression, his hands resting on his thighs. A flower-shaped inset above shows a roadside teahouse during a rainstorm. Nicely detailed and composed.
