Prince Genji Visiting a Beauty

Comments - Attractive scene of Prince Genji visiting a beauty at a country house. He stands in the center, grinning as he looks back over his shoulder, his page handing his sword to the woman behind him. At right, a beauty stands in the doorway of a garden gate, smiling and shyly holding her sleeve to her chest. She wears a pretty red kimono shaded to green and decorated with chrysanthemums. At left, a matron holds a softly glowing lantern. A full moon glows high in the night sky, the landscape dotted with autumn grasses and flowers. A charming design with fine bokashi shading.

Artist - Kunisada II (1823 - 1880)

Image Size - 13 1/4" x 27 7/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Slight paper remnants on reverse at edges from previous mounting. Slight toning, soiling, and creasing. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
