Takagi Oriemon

Abridged Stories of our Country's Swordsmanship, 1845 - 1846

Takagi Oriemon - Handsome portrait of the young swordsmanTakagi Oriemon sitting on a rock with a rope tied around it. Having just vanquished a gang of robbers, he has written an account of his triumph on the wall at left, an ink stone and bar of ink on the ground before him, his brush still in hand. He frowns as he examines his work, bulging muscles visible on his arms and legs and his sword stuck into the ground nearby. An interesting design from this rarely seen Kuniyoshi series, nicely colored and shaded.
