Series; Famous Views and Beautiful Women

The Seven Flowers of Autumn at the Hyakkaen Garden by the Sumida River, 1897 - Lovely scene of a beauty and two girls strolling through the Hyakkaen (One Hundred Flowers) garden, admiring the "seven flowers of autumn." The older girl leads her sister by the hand as they walk along a path, the young girl smiling and waving a fan. Their mother follows behind, enjoying the blossoming grasses and shrubs. Small wooden signs identify the varieties of plants. A charming image with soft color and a very painterly feel. Beautifully detailed with embossing in the beauty's kimono, and metallic silver pigment on the folding fan and the girls' obi. A great design from this rarely seen Gekko series.

Artist - Gekko (1859 - 1920)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 27 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with paper. Slight toning, a few light creases. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
