Chinese Nobleman Attacking a Samurai, 1889

Comments - Intriguing kabuki scene of a Chinese nobleman attacking a samurai, having just sliced a mask in half, the two pieces falling to the ground at right as the victim tumbles backwards. The nobleman wears a robe patterned with a dragon and swirling clouds and a ruffled collar. At left, another man frowns angrily, holding his sword at his side. Nicely detailed with burnishing in the black kimono and on the back of the mask.

Artist - Kunisada III (1848 - 1920)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 27 3/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with paper. Slight soiling and ink offsetting. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
