The Six Immortal Poets

Comments - Interesting scene of Japan's famous Six Immortal Poets, set against a backdrop of blossoming plum trees with poem slips tied to them, the verses fluttering in the breeze. In the center, the poetess Ono no Komachi grins happily as she waves a folding fan above her head. At top left, the monk Kisen Hoshi dances about, waving his hands. At bottom center, the nobleman Ariwara no Narihira frowns angrily up at the beauty. At upper right, Otomo no Kuronushi wears an elegant black robe with a beautiful burnished scroll pattern. A text panel across the top takes the form of an open scroll. A handsome design with expressive figures and lively color.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 28"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Some soiling. Some staining. Rubbing. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
