Comments - Fantastic scene of the Shogun Yoritomo's famous hunt taking place at the foot of Mt. Fuji in 1193. Teams of samurai drive a stream of boar, deer, and rabbits into a fenced area where warriors are waiting to attack the animals with spears. At the front of the pack, the brave Tadatsune rides astride a giant wild boar, his knife in hand as he prepares to stab the beast. The shogun and his court watch the proceedings from a pavilion atop a low hill at right, with clouds bordering the image below. The snow-capped peak of Mt. Fuji appears in the distance at upper left. A fascinating and unusual view of the famous tale. A great subject for a samurai enthusiast.
