The Ronin Tamiya Iemon, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of the ronin Tamiya Iemon at right grimacing angrily at a beauty, one hand resting atop the hilt of his sword. The woman turns her face away, cowering behind her kimono sleeve, the edge of her blue and white scarf caught between her teeth. In the center, a man wrapped in a straw mat as a coat watches the beauty with a frown. A bench and straw mats at right suggest at tea stand, with a building or fence running across the background above the grassy ground. Ichikawa Ebizo V appears as Tamiya Iemon. Nice expressive figures in a handsomely detailed setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 1/2" x 28 5/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with paper. Stitching holes at side of each panel, a few wormholes, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases and slight rubbing at edges, slight rippling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
