Chinese, 1861 by Kunimaro (active circa 1850 - 1875)

Original Kunimaro (active circa 1850 - 1875) Japanese Woodblock Print
Chinese, 1861

Comments - Interesting Yokohama-e portrait of a Chinese man. He wears a long black button-front tunic over a gray robe, and a flat hat, his braid hanging down his back. One hand extends from his sleeve to show his long fingernails. The Chinese characters at left mean "Bright Moon on the Sea." Nicely detailed with burnished lines to indicate the folds in the black tunic. A handsome format.

Artist - Kunimaro (active circa 1850 - 1875)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 1/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A few wormholes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few marks and stains. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
