Published by Yoshikawa Hanshichi in 1898, each volume of the set includes 12 woodblock prints of traditional Japanese sumi ink paintings featuring landscapes, figures, animals, flowers, and plants. Rendered with handsome brushwork, the designs were intended to serve as models to copy. Some of the black and white designs are heightened with color.
