Series; Springtime Haze in Edo

Otokodate and Pine Tree, 1866 - Great triptych featuring portraits of three otokodate or street knights, each wearing a striking kimono. The fellow at left wears a robe with a fierce tiger on it, while the man in the center has a green horned demon on his kimono. The fellow at right has a lovely scene of a crane flying above splashing waves, the bird's feathers delicately embossed. A pine tree rendered in bold calligraphic strokes fills the background against the night sky. From left, the actors are Ichikawa Kuzo II, Ichimura Kakitsu IV, Otani Tomoemon V. A terrific kabuki design we've never before offered.
