Comments - Handsome scene from the famous "Tale of Genji" showing visitors arriving at Prince Genji's mansion. At right, a beauty carrying the young princess emerges from an elegant palanquin, smiling happily. She is flanked by two attendants, one holding a sword and the other carrying a parcel wrapped in cloth. The young nobleman stands nearby to greet her, overjoyed at her arrival. Several ladies of the palace hold out lanterns to welcome the guests and light the way into the home, while another kneels respectfully on the verandah. An attractive design with beautiful detail in the elegant clothing, including embossing in the white kimono trim.
