Courtesan in the Yoshiwara

Comments - Lovely portrait of a courtesan strolling through the Yoshiwara, pausing to look back over her shoulder with a slightly concerned expression. Her outer kimono features a pattern of bamboo with tan border featuring black waves, trimmed with a floral print and tied with a tan obi decorated with pine branches. Her hair is pulled back into a smooth bun, adorned with tortoiseshell combs and hairpins. A low fence encloses a garden with a blossoming cherry tree above yellow flowering shrubs. An attractive Edo era beauty portrait.

Artist - Eisen (1790 - 1848)

Image Size - 14 1/2" x 10 1/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. One small hole, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
