Original Eiichi Kotozuka (1906 - 1979) Japanese Woodblock Print
Near Yatsusaka On New Year's Day (January)

From the Uchida Publisher Archives - We were fortunate to purchase a wonderful collection of 20th century prints directly from the archives of the Uchida Art Company of Kyoto. The classic 20th century prints offered in our auction from this collection are all first edition prints of various designs released by the Uchida company in the mid-20th century. These first edition prints are unusual to come by in a nice group as they were generally sold off as they were produced. This excellent collection was held back and recently sold from the Uchida archives. These prints are a nice opportunity to collect a lovely 20th century print, or perfect as reasonably priced gifts. Don't miss out on these prints, once they sell out, we won't have them again!

Comments - Wonderful street scene near Yatsusaka Hill in Kyoto on New Year's Day. Buildings are adorned with Japanese flags and traditional bamboo and pine decorations for the holiday. A beauty walks down the center of the road as children fly kites, a favorite activity for the New Year. A pagoda spire rises in the distance against a bright blue sky. Terrific color and detail in this attractive subject. This is a rare printer's proof, before all the color blocks have been printed.

Artist - Eiichi Kotozuka (1906 - 1979)

Image Size - 10 1/4" x 15 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail. Light spotting, a few minor creases around edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
