Nakayama Tomisaburo

Comments - Terrific large head kabuki portrait of the actor Nakayama Tomisaburo in a female role. She stares ahead with an unhappy pout, fingering the edge of her tie-dyed, seashell patterned collar. Her hair is pulled back into a smooth bun adorned with a decorative comb and hairpins, a white ribbon tying it away from her face. A great expressive figure with a subtle gray mica background. Rarely seen in reprint.

Artist - Enkyo (1749 - 1803)

Image Size - 14" x 9 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Tiny loss at edge. Toning, a few creases at edges, a few surface scratches and small indented marks, very small paper remnant at corner. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
