Golden Pheasant and Fern Shoots

Comments - Handsome image of a golden pheasant among young fern shoots. The bird's colorful feathers are beautifully detailed, and the long tail feather echoes the tall slender grasses beside the ferns. An attractive design. The poem at upper left reads:

Blundering into
a path where tasty grasses
manage to grow tall.

A fine reprint with soft bokashi shading in the background.

Artist - Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)
