Original Kunisada III (1848 - 1920) Japanese Woodblock Print
Eavesdropping, 1890

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a man eavesdropping outside the door of a house. He scowls angrily as he listens, his brows furrowed. Inside, a commoner in a boldly patterned blue and gray kimono grimaces as he looks over his shoulder, clutching a dotted towel in one hand. He wears a black undergarment and the tattoos on his arms can just be seen at the sleeves. On the floor at lower right, a pipe rests alongside a tobacco set in a wooden container. A handsome design with nice architectural detail in the setting.

Artist - Kunisada III (1848 - 1920)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 18 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Two separate panels. A few small holes, small tear at edge, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases and small marks. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
