Hibiscus by Nisaburo Ito (1910 – 1988)

Original Nisaburo Ito (1910 – 1988) Japanese Woodblock Print
Hibiscus

Nisaburo Ito - Born in Kyoto in 1910, shin-hanga artist Nisaburo Ito created many woodblock prints of flowers, landscapes, and noted shrines and temples around his hometown. Some of his designs reflect his study of nihonga or traditional Japanese painting, while others take on a more modern expression. His floral and nature subjects are beautifully rendered with wonderful color and attention to detail. His attractive prints are a lovely choice to collect or display.

Comments - Lovely image of a hibiscus shrub with two large pink blossoms and many buds, some in different stages of opening. The petals are delicately veined with embossing near the center of the flower. The deep green leaves are softly shaded, providing an attractive contrast with the rosy blooms. A beautiful design, published by the Uchida Art Company of Tokyo with "Uchida" watermark and publisher's seal.
