Crowds at the Horse Riding Stunts at Ryogoku, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Terrific design of a beauty and two young girls making their way through a busy street during the horseracing stunts at Ryogoku. The beauty smile as she gestures with her finger, holding the youngest girl's hand as a dog frisks about her feet. The woman wears a striped apron over an intricately pattern kimono tied with a floral obi. Curtains and paper lanterns hang from the eaves of the shops lining the street, and a rust and white banner frame the scene at right. A fascinating image with wonderful detail, bokashi shading in the sky, and embossing on the curtains.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)

Image Size - 14 5/8" x 9 7/8" + margins as shown
