Original Yoshitoshi (1839 - 1892) Japanese Woodblock Print
Young Man Carrying an Iris Kakemono, 1866

Comments - Handsome kakemono or vertical diptych of a young man carrying a blossoming iris with long green leaves. He grins happily as he looks over his back, wearing a blue violet kimono with scrolls and flowering clematises on the sleeves, tucked into green floral pants. He has a single sword tucked at his side, and his hair is pulled back into a thick topknot tied with a white cord. An attractive subject we've only seen once before.

Artist - Yoshitoshi (1839 - 1892)

Image Size - 27" x 9 1/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Two attached panels, backed with paper. A few small holes, repaired. Toning, creasing, slight soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
