Comments - Attractive scene of a group of courtesans watching two butterfly dancers perform. The beauties smile and chat as the dancers move gracefully about the stage, striking the hand drums hung around their necks. Each wears a colorful kimono with large butterfly wings, and the stage is set with props of flowers and a stone bridge. Fantastic detail and color in the elegant clothing, which includes embossing in the white kimono collars and touches of burnishing. A charming Meiji era subject we've only seen once before.
