Tattooed Suikoden Heroes Battling, 1893

Comments - Terrific kabuki triptych of two tattooed heroes from the Suikoden battling with an iron club and a wooden pole arm. At left, the "Flower Priest" Rochishin grips an iron club with both hands, the tassels of the prayer beads draped around his body flying. His tattoo of flowering cherry trees covers his entire body. At right, Kumonryu Shishin, whose nickname is "Nine Tattooed Dragons," draws back his own weapon, his long black hair flowing around his face, his tattoo visible on his chest, legs, and arms. Amazing color and detail in this fantastic design, with an attractive setting of a bright red temple building in a snowy landscape. Detailed with burnishing in the black trim on the robes of the fellow on either side and the black trim on the temple doors. A great choice for a collector interested in tattoo prints.
