Lingering Snow at Ishiyama: Suzuki Shigeyuki

Series; Military Brilliance for the Eight Views, 1852

Lingering Snow at Ishiyama: Suzuki Shigeyuki - Fantastic image of the samurai Suzuki Shigeyuki peering through snow-covered reeds with his pistol in one hand, waiting to ambush the great Oda Nobunaga. He wears a straw raincoat over a red print kimono and a fine suit of armor, his hair combed back over his shoulders. He pushes the grasses aside as he looks up intently, a determined expression on his face. A gray mist hangs over the setting, with the sky above darkening. Beautifully detailed with soft shading in the sky. Includes a fine spattering of white and gray pigment to simulate a spray of snow from moving the reeds. A great design from this rarely seen Kuniyoshi series.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. A few small holes, repaired. Slight toning, soiling, and creasing, light stain. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
