Young Nobleman Painting a Screen, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Interesting scene of a young nobleman painting a screen. He sits beside the large landscape panel with a brush in hand, a low lacquer table before him filled with shallow bowls of pigment and water alongside a container of brushes. The beauty at right grins at him happily, dressed in a violet kimono patterned with flowing water and chrysanthemums. He regards her with a slight frown, however. The bow of his ship can be seen pulled up to the rocky shore at left, while the corner of a rustic pavilion appears at upper right. A handsome design with a wonderfully detailed setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 29 3/4"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Three attached panels, backed with paper. Vertical folds. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
